This past holiday I was given a gift of promise. Seeds from a friends garden, what a wonderful gift! I've had them out today, daydreaming about the spring and the garden. About how and what we will plant; the flowers, the vegetables and the herbs that will grow and end up on our table, feeding our family. Knowing that when we dig into the earth - the heady scent of good soil will rise, our hands will get dirty, we will unearth 2 my little ponies, 3 buried treasures, and the garden spade I was looking for all last Fall.

I've got tears in my eyes. I love you. Thank you for seeing the brilliant love in the promise of our gift.
I love sharing seeds! Harvesting them for the next year and passing along your hard work. In two big envelopes that sit in the studio are seeds for this spring. My favorite is my money plant or silver dollar seeds - they carry memories of my grandfathers large garden, my grandmother had them planted by her front door to bring luck and wealth into her home.
I do have lots of extras if you would like some :)
Such a very special gift, those seeds making you smile today and well after they poke their little heads out of the earth, then on to other gardens and smiles...How very wonderful. xo
what a lovely idea!!
what a beautiful gift, a beautiful post and beautiful you.
i feel exactly like Crystal ( except i didn't send you the seeds) xo
beautiful post Miss Lola Nova. something that will keep making you smile throughout the season.
hope you are keeping warm ♥
Seeds are so exciting! If i close my eyes i can almost see your garden once it is planted. So Beautiful....I too have a favorite sweater with wooden buttons...Mine is quite moth eaten tho. Still it's my favorite and the wear doesn't stop me from wearing it!
That's a pretty great gift. Love that you're remembering the heritage of planting and carrying seeds, passing them on. It will be an exciting garden!
I love this post - you've reminded me of so many wonderful things... the plants and seeds in my own garden from my family, the parsley seed packets we made to give our wedding guests (collected from my own parsley plants), and the time I heard the facilitator of a public housing community garden talk about the importance of giving newly arrived people a chance to grow the plants and foods that connect them to home (just as you said!). thank you
I love seeds! :)
All that potential!!

What a perfect gift. I've been meaning to teach myself all there is to know about seed saving. Maybe I'll save some from my own garden this year.
That's absolutely lovely. I planted seeds which a blogging friend had sent me two years ago. This last year they had seeded themselves most wonderfully (they were morning glories and sweetpeas) and every time I saw them popping up around the garden I thought of her.
I've mentioned you in a post today! I have my very own 'couch which mocks me' and always think of you as I battle with it!
