In the throws of a bout of insomnia, whilst looking at the red glowy (mocking) numbers on my ancient Westclox digital for the umpteenth time, I started writing a new blog post titled, "Old and In the way." In which I discussed a certain doe-eyed shop girl with a bad attitude, a tragic cliche about becoming matronly, the perils of elastic waist trousers, and the fact that The Beastie Boys are now being played on the OLDIES station!
As I was rambling tangential, it occurred to me that my lack of sleep was making me sound at least 'a half a bubble off plumb,' so I thought it best to stop with the crazy and think of something else to write about.
So I thought...
...and thought...
Until I woke up in a panic at 7 am.
Now it's the next day, time has gotten away from me, and there's still a little bit of crazy lurking in the shadows under my eyes. I've left Pony Girl to devour an entire watermelon on her own while I attempt to get some work done and I realize I got nothin' in the way of a post.
I'll just leave you with a little "thanks for coming" new friends and old, and apologies for not getting 'round much these days by way of emails and comments. You are all so ace, really! I am wishing you all a week of good sleeps and happy dreams!
I won't get back to sleep if I look at my mocking clock numbers. I still had a bit of time in the middle of the night to .... design an entire apron and a matching one for the child and name the pair, all in my head (too bad I don't get up and actually make it).
ReplyDeleteI like this little post of yours today...sometimes just a few thoughts put to words and a couple of pics are just the ticket!
Would it help you to sleep tonight if I told you that I got my latest edition of `Mollie Makes` and your darling little photo frames are in it? They`re too sweet....like I hope your dreams will be for you tonight. Sleep tight. x
ReplyDeleteOne day I tuned in to BBC Radio 2, which was always the really embarrassing station other people's mum's listened to and thought "oh wow Radio 2 has really groovied its self up these days." It took a while to realise that actually I was just old!
ReplyDeleteLess is more, and I like your post too. I also like how youv'e left your little one to eat a whole water melon ( I have done the same before now )
ReplyDeleteChin up chicky :)
Eh, there are weeks like that. Hope you get some solid rest and drive out (most of) the crazy. :)
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean!
ReplyDeleteThat might have been a really interesting post!!
ReplyDeleteI have to say you have some delicious fabric there. :)
I hope you have sweet dreams tonight!
Vivienne x
I got my Molly Makes too and my Mum found three plastic bracelets she doesn't want so I'm ready to go! We all have lean times when nothing gets done but a post of pretty photos keeps me happy and sometimes inspires too!
ReplyDeletebeastie boys? oldies? oh dear...
ReplyDeleteyeah, i guess so. would love to read your thoughts you were considering.
I got no sleep last night either but this was due to the bubba deciding that midnight meant playtime! The photos were so pretty... that's why i stopped by to say hi! So, Hi!
ReplyDeleteHope you get some rest, cucumbers for the eyes, and some slices of watermelon next time :)
ReplyDeleteOk - well your fabric choices would not be those of an elastic waist trousered matron...hopefully you'll start feeling hip and zippy again! Need sleep, need sleep...
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find those gorgeous trims??
Yep I know totally what you mean! Hope you get some sleep tonight sweet Lola, Insomnia suck xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat post you wrote in your mind sounds just like how I feel!
ReplyDeleteI have all of these same woes. I'm 43. I'm blaming it all on the "change of life". Which is probably 10 to 15 years off, but feels like it's starting now. I chalk it all up to hormones, yes indeed.
ReplyDelete*sigh* really the Beastie boys on the oldies station. That makes me hurumph! And feel old!
ReplyDeleteYou've tempted me anyway's with all that could have been written. I bought our Eldest some cropped pull on jeans the other day. They just happen to have an elasticated waist as they're elasticated at the knees too. She's only 10 and still said you need to buy more trousers like this they're really easy to pull up and down. Is she getting on?
ReplyDeleteBeastie boys, that takes me back to being 17 and they were the bad boys of pop. I never liked them as I was into Rockabilly and Northern Soul at the time. Now I just listen to the English oldies channel Radio 2 like F.Nora said.
Love your images - rest up and do whatever you want to do.
X
Wow, I was hooked by your tale of the expanding shop girl! I wanted to know what happened next!! I hate elastic waste bands, and They trick women into them by starting you off while you're slim in 'yoga' pants, then in 'sweat' pants, then before you know it youre sucked in so deep you dont even remember what a zipper looks like! Does your antagonist have issues with high heels? Mine does, only wears flats now, and she's so bitter about it!
ReplyDeleteOoops, I meant 'waist' bands not waste bands....something to think about....
ReplyDeleteThe photo of the vinatge buttons makes the visit well worthwhile, even if "you got nothin' "
ReplyDeleteWishing you a good night's sleep...
