Weekending

Guess where we went this weekend. No, it wasn't the deep green woods...

It was the beautiful downtown Portland Farmer's Market!

Oh how I love Ranunculus!

Asparagus of wonder!

Pretty peas.

Ruby red Rhubarb.

Cavorting Kohlrabi.

Colorful Clematis.

And of course, a rocking horse balloon hat!

It was lovely! Fortunately the rain held off until Sunday evening, so we were able to fit in a lot of gardening as well. I'll tell you more about that next time. I'm off to attack my Monday.

I hope you had a sweet weekend as well.

Oh, I'm so envious of those trees and the beautiful farmer's market environment you have! Please tell me what is 'Kohlrabi' and how do you prepare/eat it? Can you tell me what the flavor is comparable to? I've never had it (obviously). Thanks!

It seems like just yesterday that you posted about the 2010 opening of the Farmers Market in Portland...Nostalgia sets in looking at your beautiful photos.

Isn't it great to finally be able to get dig in the dirt? I finally got to my window boxes and it will be fun to hear about what you got done.

We were at the Farmer's Market in Milwaukie. Oddly, I didn't see any rhubarb, but we did pick up some asparagus, tomato transplants, and a few other things. I can't wait for strawberries. Strawberry rhubarb pie. Oh yes.

Ranunculus are my stand-out, all-time favourite. When I am old(er) I plan to spontaneously cultivate a green thumb and grow paddocks filled with 'em.
