Here is the work in progress, some pieces cut from fabric. Still on the no-buy tip, I'm out of muslin or gingham, so I am again using scraps and random fabric to make the mock-up. I have actually started piecing some of this together and found one solution to yesterday's dillema. Only time and more stitching will tell whether it was a true success. I am cautiously optimistic at the moment.

Looking at your post today made me wonder if I could create a pattern and a mock-up for a chicken sweater for my poor chickens who are missing some of their back feathers (due to zealous rooster). Thank you for the inspiration - I shall give it a whirl! And I do have lots of fabric scraps that would make my chickens the talk of the flock...
Good luck with your mock-up!
Guess what?! I did it! I made a chicken coat. I credited you for the inspiration on my blog. The post is called "how to keep a chicken warm" in case you want to see the result. My new rescue chickens were desperate for warmth in this cold Iowa weather.
